The Titan Catholic student leadership team supports the ministry of Titan Catholics as we invite the UWO community to discipleship in Jesus Christ in his Church.
Each year, active Titan Catholic student members elect this team, which includes a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and a chair for communications. Other positions such as spirituality, women's and men's ministries, and more are then invited to join the team.
If you are interested in standing for election for one of the positions listed below, please complete our application by Friday, March 19, 2021.
In addition to faithfully fulfilling the duties specific to each position, all student leadership team members are required to:
- Attend team meetings.
- Attend the fall leadership retreat.
- Attend and serve in some way at the Newman Center's Sunday Masses (on any Sunday they are in Oshkosh).
- Participate regularly in a Titan Catholics Bible study.
- Attend at least one Titan Catholics-related retreat or conference during the year.
- Participate in other Titan Catholics events as they are able.
- Meet regularly with the person who supervises them.
Conducts the student leadership team, setting up and chairing meetings. Provides the main communication channel from the leadership team to Titan Catholic students (e.g., announcements). Ensures that all student matters are handled in a timely and organized manner. Works directly with the Newman Center Chaplain through weekly one-on-one meetings, and continually strives to cast great vision for the ministry. Assists, as needed, with events and programs planned by chair people.
Assists the president in overseeing the student leadership team and helps ensure that all team members conduct themselves properly and handle their positions well. Keeps any calendar/scheduling communication with ministry members (Father, Administration, FOCUS) open and accurate. Assists, as needed, with events and programs planned by chair people.
Takes minutes at all formal meetings of the leadership team and distributes important information when necessary. Handles written communications with leadership team members, such as meeting reminders, deadlines, etc.
Tracks all student transactions, maintains the Titan Catholic on-campus account, submits the annual campus budget request, and files reimbursements for students, working with the Newman Center's administrative assistant as needed. Ensures the student leadership team maintains and stays within budget. Requests campus funds for conference and travel fees.
Public Relations/Communications Chair
Builds a strong social media presence for Titan Catholics through advertising for ministry events on campus and online (Facebook, Instagram). Sets up technology for events and/or trains others to do so.
Coordinates and communicates with the university as the student organization's main representative, working with the treasurer of financial matters.
Organizes and promotes sign up for Adoration during the week, and finds people who are willing to lead rosaries before the Weekday and Sunday Masses. Encourages students to engage in some kind of retreat experience (i.e., FOCUS retreats and conferences, Come and See Weekends, Operation Andrew Dinner, CYE, TEC, etc.).
Organizes volunteers to help with Titan Catholic service events as well as with events on the UWO campus. Builds up the service arm of Titan Catholics in our Oshkosh community.
Women's Ministry Chair
Plans events throughout the year that bring women from our campus together to center on Christ. Will have the opportunity to choose what each event and meeting consists of, while also working closely with the FOCUS team.
Men's Ministry Chair
Plans events throughout the year that bring men from our campus together to center on Christ. Will have the opportunity to choose what each event and meeting consists of, while also working closely with the FOCUS team.
Plans and/or finds others to plan community nights and other social events. Oversees events to ensure that they are hospitable and orderly and that there are volunteers to help with set-up and clean-up.
Assists the priest in overseeing those who serve at Sunday and Weekday Masses. Helps to train sacristans, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers, and the hospitality team. Serves in these roles as needed.
